Do Something Everyday

If I do something every day towards a goal it will eventually come to pass.

Jack Canfield ad Mark Victor Hansen published the first Chicken Soup For The Soul book together. When they first started out it was not easy as Canfield describes on page 217 of his book The Success Principles.”

They got advise from someone they trusted about how to get their book out into the world. He said, “If you would go every day to a very large tree and take five swings at it with a very sharp ax, eventually, no matter how large they’re, it would have to come down.”

I like that. The imagery is great.

Canfield and Hansen came up with the Rule of 5 which “simply means that every day, we do five specific things that will move our goal toward completion.”

Whether it is 5 things, 3 things or just 1 thing it doesn’t matter. If everyday we pick something to do toward our goals we will come all that much closer to getting where we want to go. Also it will make us wiser if we pause and think a little about our daily actions.  After all t is important to sharpen the ax!

How We Lived: Panther VL620

Harold Harrison

I’m told that the man in this picture is Harold Harrison. He was the Great Uncle to my Grandfather on my mothers side. He taught my Grandfather how to play the violin when he was 5 years ol. This picture was taken in England around 1922.

What I like most about this picture is the perspective on his face and the vehicle itself. His face radiates self-confidence and I think the vehicle is fantastic.

I scanned this picture from a collection my mother has. I don’t know much about the man but it is by far one of my favourites.

I saw this video on Youtube that somewhat close to what Harold Harrison is on in this picture (Panther Motorcycle 1939 Vintage). It would be interesting to know if this bike survived in my family.

Free Comic Book Day: 2017/05/06

IMG_20170506_114157

Quin and I went to FREE COMIC BOOK DAY on Saturday May 6th. It rained so all the vendors stayed in their stores and everyone lined up to get their free comics. It was an amazing experience. I was so impressed with my Little Captain America. He did well in the lines. My son has always made good friends and ended up making a few along the way. We saw a lot of people in costume. The two vendors we went to were Heroes and L.A. Mood Comics. There were a few things happening in the City Plaza (a.k.a Galleria Mall).

The Car Is Getting Cleaner With A Bit of Help

Never in my life have I cleaned my engine. I could not believe the grime! I didn’t really know that words were found on parts of the engine.

I wouldn’t say that I’ve been someone inclined to mechanical things. These days though I’ve been wanting to learn a bit more about what is under the engine. I’ve also been far more diligent about cleaning the inside of the car as well.

I think the fact that my car is right beside my house helps.

It also helps when I have my Superhero Son & Dog helping!

The Kebo Futon Bust

Topic: Working @ Home

I tried a Kebo Futon in my home office and it tanked. It was my first time buying furniture online. It was way too stiff and uncomfortable.

I work from home and I’ve been trying to set up my office. I want a comfortable piece of furniture that doesn’t take up much space. A place for reflection and reading.

My next step is to go to old school and buy from a brick and mortar store.

A Missing Building: London Ontario

MEMORIES: Pictures taken on Monday April 24, 2017

What is missing in these pictures?

I was walking along Clarence Street between Dundas and King and realized an entire building was missing. Where the parking lot is there once stood a building that was part of my life as a teenager when I was a student at H.B. Beal.

Here are the pictures:

The building that is missing is Ace Arcade!

When I realized it wasn’t there I had to do a double take. I spent a lot of time in that arcade playing billiards. I loved it and spent a lot of money there too.

I heard from a friend that it turned out to be a “front” for significant drug ring. I’m not sure if that is true. I couldn’t find an article on it but I did find a link about what it looked like before they tore down the building. Check this link – Former Ace Arcade Pictures

I was blown away that it was gone. But things change and that’s okay.

A Beautiful Downtown London Mural

THE ARTS: Monday April 24th 2017

There is an unbelievable mural in the heart of Downtown London. The mural is on a large wall between two buildings where there is a walkway and parking between Dundas Street and King Street. If you are standing right in front of the Mas Cafe [192 Dundas St, London, ON] and looking across the street you literally can’t miss it. It’s so big, colourful and beautiful that I spent some time just looking at it before taking a few pictures.
